professionalism20 Dec 2009 People tend to refer to professionalism as a term that describes a standard of work. A yardstick by which you measure the quality, attitude, and reliability of individuals and the products they produce. And yet, a great many people call themselves professionals whilst they do not measure up. The term itself is rather useless in that sense. In the end it boils down to a person being a professional if he/she gets paid for what he does. That's it... end of story. If I look around at the people that I'd call the true consummate professionals, the ones I hold in high regard... They simply don't bother with this type of terminology or self-definition. People that are really good, simply do what they do, and a lot of the time, since that is all they do, thus become very good at exactly that. Dolf J. Veenvliet |
